SECRET WAR DAY : Marvel's 'Secret Wars' Turned Multiple Avengers and X-Men into Thor! - SECRET WARS #2

 HELLO GUYS!

WELCOME TO ANOTHER AMAZING BLOG!

TODAY WE'RE AGAIN GOING TO TALK ABOUT THOR VARIANTS...BUT IN SECRET WARS!

SECRET WAR DAY: Marvel's 'Secret Wars' Turned Multiple Avengers and X-Men into Thor

2015's Secret Wars crossover was so massive, it transformed numerous other heroes into a veritable army of Thors.

Thanks to his power level and history within the Marvel Universe, Thor is easily one of the setting's biggest icons. It's even become a title at various points more than a name, embodied by different heroes inspired by the original Asgardian. But in one of Marvel's biggest events, that number skyrocketed in a truly wild way.

One of the most consistent threads of the expansive 2015 Secret Wars crossover was the Thor Corps, a truly massive force of Thor variants from across the remnants of the Marvel multiverse. But it wasn't just versions of Thor Odinson who ended up running around with their own versions of Mjolnir, with plenty of Avengers, X-Men, and Guardians of the Galaxy all getting their own turn as the God of Thunder.

Marvel's Secret Wars Created An Army Of Thors:

During the build-up to Secret Wars, while most of the hero community went down fighting, Doctor Doom moved behind the scenes to try and take advantage of the situation. Ultimately stealing the Beyonder's powers with the help of Doctor Strange and the Molecule Man, Doom was able to create Battleworld, a makeshift world composed of remnants of the multiverse.

Taking up the role of king and god in his newly crafted world, Doom quickly established a power system that could work across the various domains of Battleworld. Each region would have its own form of government, chosen by the leaders who could either be elected into power or take it forcibly from others.

Each of these domains would have loyalty to Doom above all, and any suspected rebellion would be squashed. To ensure his rule was carried out across these various realms, Doom formally created the Thor Corp. Each domain would typically end up having a variant of Thor, even if they weren't the typical son of Odin.

Whichever person could lift the Mjolnir of each respective domain became its protector, all serving in the same army. Centering their base of operations in Doctor Doom's personal domain of Doomgard, the Thor Corp loyally served at the command of Victor Von Doom, carrying out his commands with little debate.

Rebellious domains like Monster Metropolis were dealt with by force. This was demonstrated when an army of Thors arriving on the scene to quell Deadpool's widow Shiklah's resistance with impunity until they rallied against Doom at the story's climax.

Which Marvel Heroes Became Thor in Secret Wars?

Within the Thor Corps, there were many familiar versions of Thor from other storylines -- including new versions of the Ultimate Thor, Eric Masterson, and Throg. In one domain, it was his long-time friend Sif who became Thor. But numerous other mainstay Marvel heroes got their chance to feel the might of Mjolnir in their hands.

One variant of Thor's sister Angela became a Thor in his stead, catching the attention of the murderous MODOK from Killville. The She-Hulk of Yinsin City (a domain where Tony Stark died in the cave instead of Yinsin) was a Thor, as well as the leader of her realm's Defenders. War Machine was the Thor of Technopolis until his friend Iron Man betrayed and killed him.

Throughout the event, other heroes who were glimpsed in Thor form included some X-Men mainstays like Storm, Dazzler, Nightcrawler, Colossus, and Magneto. There were also a handful of Guardians of the Galaxy like Groot and Gamora who'd received the boost, as well as Avengers like Falcon and Blade.

Perhaps the most surprising Thor that was glimpsed in the event was a variant of the Lizard, meaning at least one Spider-Man villain ended up with the potential to be a great hero. The Thor Corps was one of the wildest pieces of Secret Wars, a frequent reminder regardless of the realm that God King Doom was one of Marvel's most powerful forces ever, capable of commanding an army of potential world breakers.

But in the long run, their status as Thor ultimately played a major part in the fall of Doom. No matter what other character they were, most (if not every) variant of the Thunder God within the Thor Corp was established as heroes at heart, befitting their place in the Thor legacy.

When the Jane Foster of Earth-616 -- herself a Thor at the time -- was able to find the Corp, she rallied them in defiance of Doom and led them into battle against their ruler. This helped buy enough time for the other heroes to steal Doom's power and reforge the multiverse. It speaks to the history of Thor in an interesting way, as that core concept of heroism and rebellion is implicit in the story of Marvel's Thor -- regardless of who else they are.
